Exclusive Interview with Selina Manir

Selina Manir is a celebrity hair and make up artist. With ten years’ experience and a strong clientele she is one of the most renowned names in the industry. We caught up with Selina to find out more about her journey so far and plans for the future.

Selina attended Jahangir Nagar University in Bangladesh and gained a degree in Pharmacy. Always passionate about the beauty industry she took her existing knowledge of cosmetics and combined it with a Level 3 Diploma in Hair and Make Up. This was the first step in what led to a full time career in hair and make up.

Having spoken with Selina the passion she has for her chosen career path was evident “I always dreamt of being someone who could help other women to look better and feel better. I meet new people and learn new things every day. This is what I love to do. Can you imagine doing what you love and doing it every day? That is a good life.”

When asked about her biggest achievement to date, Selina described her experience of working with model and Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez. “It was an absolute pleasure to meet Jaqueline and work on such a beautiful face. She is a lovely person and very friendly. Anyone would feel comfortable to be around her.”

As well as celebrity hair and make up, Selina Manir is a well known name across bridal shows and is the official sponsor of the Asian Bride Luxe Show taking place in November 2016.

Selina also runs monthly courses for those wanting to learn the art of hair and make up. The courses are in a five day format with the first three days focussing on make up techniques. The penultimate day focuses on hair techniques and on the final day students take part in a portfolio session with a professional photographer. When asked who her preferred designers are for the portfolio days Selina confirmed outfits and accessories are sourced from Thexeeb London and Kyles Collection.

When asked about her plans for the future Selina confirmed that she is in the process of setting up a make up academy where courses will run on a full time basis. She is also in the research and development phase of a new product line and hopes to launch this in early 2018.
